The Franco-Syrian Council expresses its unequivocal condemnation of any calls that incite foreign intervention or violate the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic. Such actions, grounded in reliance on external powers against the interests of the Syrian people, constitute an intolerable violation of the fundamental principles of international law and national independence.
The Syrian people, in all their diversity, represent a unified and cohesive social fabric rooted in generational bonds of fraternity, coexistence, and mutual understanding. This social harmony, based on the principle of citizenship, was deliberately undermined by the former regime through the manipulation and exploitation of the « minority » concept, fostering discord and fueling division.
The Franco-Syrian Council reaffirms its complete confidence in the maturity and vigilance of the Syrian people in countering malicious attempts aimed at compromising national unity. Such acts, contrary to the public interest, have been rightfully denounced by respected and wise figures in society, who have called for the strict application of the provisions of the Syrian Penal Code to initiate appropriate legal action against such provocative behavior.
Furthermore, the Franco-Syrian Council strongly reiterates the unwavering commitment of the Syrian people to the territorial integrity and independence of the Syrian Arab Republic. It condemns any initiative aimed at undermining national cohesion or dividing the country. The Council reminds that the former regime, by itself soliciting foreign interventions, was the first to violate national sovereignty, causing profound and enduring suffering to the Syrian people.
The Franco-Syrian Council remains resolutely determined to protect and promote the values of unity, independence, and justice that underpin the Syrian Arab Republic.
Sincerely,
Paris, January 15, 2025
